Counsel for High Performance
Seventh Counsel is a principal-led advisory practice. We advise founders, executives, and institutions where strategy, capital, and government meet, and we sign our own work.
A Formula 1 team does not win because one component performs well. It wins
because the entire system is engineered to produce performance.
Industries We Serve
Tailored Solutions for Every Sector
There is no bench of associates and no leverage model. The person you meet is the person who studies the problem, writes the memorandum, and stands behind the recommendation. We take few engagements at a time, we price the matter rather than the hour, and we decline work we cannot do to standard.
Seven sides. One seal.
The heptagon is not decoration. Each side names a discipline of the practice, and every engagement draws on more than one.
Corporate Strategy
Positioning, market entry, and the decisions a board must get right the first time.
Capital Formation
Round architecture from seed through Series A, investor narrative, data rooms, and staged disclosure.
Government Relations
Legislative strategy, agency engagement, and the federal budget read as a market map.
Defense & Dual-Use Markets
Demand-signal development, acquisition pathways, and the transition from pilot to program of record.
Strategic Partnerships
Channel architecture, teaming, and agreements written to survive contact with reality.
Institutional Development
Boards, councils, and community institutions designed to outlast their founders.
Intelligence
VANTAGE, our written briefing for principals in defense, dual-use, and energy markets.
Testimonials
Seventh Counsel helped us frame a complex capital decision that had stalled for months. They didn't hand us a deck. They handed us a recommendation with the reasoning, the risks, and the tradeoffs clearly laid out. When we walked into the board meeting, we weren't guessing. We were defending a decision.
What stood out immediately was that there was no handoff. The principal who took the first call was the same person who studied the problem, wrote the memorandum, and stood behind the recommendation. That level of direct engagement is rare. It changed how we approached the entire engagement.
Standing Counsel has been the most valuable engagement we've had. When urgent decisions came up, we didn't have to onboard someone new. We already had a trusted advisor who knew our business, our constraints, and our goals. It felt less like hiring a consultant and more like adding a principal to the team.
Most advisors understand one lane. Seventh Counsel understands how the lanes intersect. They helped us read the federal budget as a market signal, align our capital narrative, and position the company for the next stage. The work was rigorous, practical, and built for real-world conditions. It gave us a clear path forward.

Joshua Bush founded the practice in 2016. He trained in organizational dynamics at the University of Pennsylvania in the Ackoff systems tradition, and was formed at Morgan State University in a rhetorical tradition that treats persuasion as a discipline, not a talent.
His work spans health systems, federal service, policy research, and venture-backed operating roles. He is a co-founder of Lola Vision Systems, a defense edge-AI company, and he leads the Ward 5 Economic Development Council in Washington, D.C.
